te Seba

Firstly, hello and welcome to Veggie Affair, a blog focused on my favourite places to eat as a vegetarian in and around Glasgow. As part of my marketing class at university, I have been tasked with writing a blog on anything of my interest and since eating out is my favourite hobby, I thought what would be more perfect than to share some of my absolute go-to-places for veggie scran. Before going vegetarian a few years ago, I held the misconception that food couldn’t taste good without meat or dairy- how wrong I was. Especially nowadays- restaurants, cafes and fast food places have upped their veggie/vegan game making it so much easier for food lovers like me. I have tried and tested many places during my time at university and definitely know the most delicious places to get the very best and affordable veggie food. So, without further ado, first on my list, is a recent visit: te Seba.

te Seba is a pasta and prosecco restaurant located in the west end of Glasgow on Great Western road, just a few minutes from Kelvinbridge subway stop- making it super easy to get to. The menu at te Seba has amazing vegetarian and vegan options but equally caters to those who eat meat which is great as there’s options for all your friends. This place was recommended to me by a friend and honestly, I thank god that I went because it was one of the best meals I have had in a very long time (a big statement I know but trust me).

I ordered the olive, walnut, sundried tomato crush which the waiter informed me was actually an accidental flavour combination and that it tasted so good they decided to offer it on the menu (I have attached the menu at the bottom of this post so you can see all they have to offer). The flavours were absolutely exceptional, it was fresh and there was so much taste in every bite, I genuinely never wanted to stop eating it. We paired it with a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc which complemented it perfectly. It was one of those meals where you aren’t even speaking to each other besides the occasional “this is so bloody good” because you are in awe of what you are eating- the very best moments. We also ordered a breadbasket and olives while we were waiting because we absolutely couldn’t resist! My sister ordered the prawn, mussel and tomato sugo pasta as a main which was absolutely to die for too! We were feeling pretty full but decided to share a dessert anyway- so we ordered the white chocolate profiteroles and we got so excited to eat them I forgot to take a photo.

The meal came to £58 which I think is more than reasonable considering we had a three-course meal and a bottle of wine between the two of us! And it was totally worth every single penny!(here's a photo of me absolutely gleaming because it was so incredible, and so was the wine, they got extra points for how nice the wine glass was!).

Overall, the whole evening was perfect from start to finish and the staff were extremely lovely and knowledgeable, so I would absolutely put this on your ‘must visit’ list for places to eat in Glasgow.

Thank you for reading and stay tuned for more blog posts.

Next up: The Flying Duck, an underground bar and diner!

BAKED pizza al taglio

Welcome back, to Veggie Affair a blog based on my favourite places to eat as a vegetarian in Glasgow. This will be my 5th and final blog post, but I hope you are as excited as me for this one! I saved the best for last. This place is my ultimate heaven: Roman style Italian pizza. For anyone who knows me this is probably my most talked about and most visited place!   BAKED pizza al taglio is located on Duke street, just a 10-minute walk  from George Square. It is directly across from the Tenants brewery so you most definitely cannot miss it. The restaurant itself is a small and very casual environment but it is always super busy with people coming in and out for what in my opinion is the best pizza in Glasgow (easily). The best thing about BAKED is that their pizza is served by the slice, known in Italy as ‘pizza al taglio’ or ‘pizza by the cut’. This means you can try multiple different pizza slices all in one meal, so there’s no need to commit to your whole pizza tasting the same! I

Rose and Grants

Hello and welcome back to Veggie Affair, a blog where I tell you some of my absolute go to places for vegetarian food in Glasgow. This week’s blog is on Rose and Grants a cafĂ© and delicatessen, who pride themselves in using fresh and local produce. Rose and Grants specialises in great brunch, lunch and cakes, their menu is 60% veggie and vegan, with all the cakes in their cabinet being 100% vegan. The menu is very diverse and has veggie and vegan options which are not readily available anywhere else: like vegan macaroni pies, vegan scotch pies and vegan square sausage!!  I have visited Rose and Grants multiple times and I am never disappointed. My most recent visit was only last week where I ordered the vegan French toast, maple syrup and seitan bacon. It was so good!! They have absolutely perfected this French toast recipe: it is made with a chia seed mix and tastes absolutely delicious; you wouldn’t even know it was vegan.  They offer some great other options like full breakfasts, ba

The Flying Duck

Hello and welcome back to Veggie Affair, a blog where I enlighten you about some of my favourite places to eat as a vegetarian in Glasgow. This week I am discussing The Flying Duck, an underground bar and diner which is 100% vegan. The Flying Duck is home to some of the very best vegan junk food. Who doesn’t love some greasy junk food? From big mac burgers, loaded fries, kababs to hot dogs, the menu at The Flying Duck offers pretty much everything you could possibly dream of (I have attached the menu at the bottom)   The Flying Duck is located on Renfield   street, just a few minutes off Sauchiehall street, making it a very central and accessible location. The bar itself has an extremely cool vibe and offers live music, private functions, pub quizzes and much more. The Flying Duck are currently closed due to COVID-19 and had plans to reopen tomorrow, however due to new local restrictions I suspect this will be pushed back (I am absolutely gutted as I was planning on filling up my belly
